Siege Drill

Siege Drill is a Fortress Age Haudenosaunee technology researched at the Siege Workshop. It increases the movement speed of Rams, Mantlets and Light Cannons by 10%. The technology costs 500 Food and 500 Wood and takes 10 seconds to research. The listed roster spans both siege pieces and the Mantlet, letting the affected units keep pace more effectively with an advancing force; the technology does not increase their attack or hit points.

Effect & research conditions

Research Siege Drill before moving the affected units across the map or into a coordinated siege. Faster movement can help the weapons reach a target and reposition with the army, but it does not make them safe from cavalry or focused fire. Keep a screen in front of the siege group and use the improved speed to avoid leaving the guns behind.

Research condition

Haudenosaunee; Fortress Age; researched at the Siege Workshop; costs 500 Food and 500 Wood; 10-second research time; Rams, Mantlets and Light Cannons gain 10% movement speed.

When to research

The upgrade is most relevant when Rams, Mantlets or Light Cannons are part of a planned push and the army needs to move as a group. If the siege units will remain stationary or are not being fielded, the benefit is limited. Its cost competes with army production, so time it around an actual siege operation.

Keep the siege group with the advancing army

The 10% movement bonus applies to Rams, Mantlets and Light Cannons. It helps those units travel and reposition with the Haudenosaunee force, but does not increase damage, hit points or resistance. Use the speed to bring siege support to the chosen target together; retain an infantry screen because the affected units remain vulnerable if fast opponents reach them.

A situational Fortress Age investment

Siege Drill costs 500 Food and 500 Wood at the Siege Workshop. Its value is highest before an operation that actually includes the listed units, especially when the group must cross the map or keep pace with a push. A static defense or an army without Rams, Mantlets and Light Cannons does not make use of the upgrade, so avoid researching it merely because the Fortress Age has begun.
