Star Fort

Star Fort is an Industrial Age improvement for the Fort. It increases the defensive structure’s hit points, making a Fort harder to destroy during a prolonged push and extending the time it can anchor a position. The benefit applies to the Fort itself, not to nearby units or other buildings.

Effect

The Fort researches Star Fort in the Industrial Age. Research takes 60 seconds and costs 300 Food, 300 Wood and 300 Coin; the recorded effect is 50% more Fort hit points. The investment therefore competes with the resources needed for an Imperial transition, army production or additional defenses.

Research condition

Available in the Industrial Age at Fort. Research time: 60 seconds. Cost: 300 food, 300 wood, 300 coin. Civilization-specific building access can vary.

Research decision

Use it when a Fort protects a lasting forward position, key gathering area or approach and is likely to face a serious siege. A remote Fort without supporting troops can still be bypassed or attacked by siege, so pair the upgrade with a position that your army can reinforce.

Fort survivability and the cost of a long hold

Star Fort increases the Fort's hit points by 50%, giving the structure more time to withstand attacks and remain useful as a defensive anchor. It does not improve the damage of the Fort's weapons, strengthen nearby buildings or prevent an opponent from attacking another route. The Industrial Age research costs 300 Food, 300 Wood and 300 Coin and takes 60 seconds. That cost is substantial enough to compare with the units needed to defend the structure and with the resources required for an Imperial Age transition.

Choose a position worth upgrading

Research Star Fort when a Fort covers an important approach, resource area or forward position that the army can continue to support. An isolated Fort can still be bypassed, surrounded or attacked by siege, so added hit points are most valuable when the structure forces the opponent to spend time on a defended objective. If the enemy can simply move around it, the research may delay a more useful army investment. Pair the upgrade with a plan for fielding troops near the Fort and responding to artillery rather than relying on durability alone.
