Effect & research conditions

Research at the Round Church; it takes 15 seconds. The trade-off combines slower, more expensive Villager production with cheaper Fishing Ships and better gathering from both worker types. The gathering increase applies while they collect resources, while the training and cost changes affect new Villagers. Check the active Danish profile for the research price and any version-specific details before committing.

When to research

This is an economic conversion rather than a free bonus. It is strongest when the player can use the faster gathering and cheaper Fishing Ships for a long stretch, and when the Town Center can tolerate slower Villager production. Avoid researching during a worker-production bottleneck or when exposed fishing ships are likely to be lost before repaying their cost.

Weigh faster gathering against slower worker production

The 10% gathering increase can compound across Villagers and Fishing Ships, but Struensee Reforms also raises Villager Food cost and training time by 20%. That means fewer or later workers if the Town Center continues producing without adjustment. The Fishing Ship discount supports water economies, while the gathering increase applies whether the workers collect Food, Wood or Coin. Before researching, consider how many workers are already active, whether fishing is safe, and how long the match will continue. The upgrade’s value depends on sustaining the improved gathering long enough to offset its production penalty.
