Effect & research conditions
The technology costs 450 Influence and takes five seconds to research at the University. Complete the research before starting the Alliance Age up intended to receive the reduction. The five-second research and the 50-second advancement reduction are separate timings; it does not remove the age-up's resource requirements.
Research condition
Hausa; Exploration Age; University. Cost: 450 Influence; research time: 5 seconds; reduces the next Alliance Age up by 50 seconds.
When to research
Use it when reaching the next Age 50 seconds earlier changes a concrete military or economic timing. Choose the alliance and the next advancement before spending Influence, and account for other alliance options competing for the same resource. The benefit is for the next Alliance Age up only, so do not plan later transitions around a repeated passive reduction.
The advancement must follow the research
Timbuktu Manuscripts applies to the next Alliance Age up after the research. Start the University technology before beginning that advancement so its 50-second reduction is used on the intended transition. It does not shorten unit queues, building construction or every future age-up, and it does not waive the normal requirements of advancing.
Spend Influence for a real timing gain
The 450-Influence cost is an investment in reaching an alliance-supported Age earlier. It is worthwhile when the 50-second lead brings an important unit, technology or economic phase into the match sooner. If Influence is needed for another alliance option or the age-up timing is not contested, keep the resource for that alternative instead.
