Overview
Japanese military development uses distinctive infantry, Samurai and mounted options alongside Town Center upgrades. Its economy and army grow through choices that differ from the original civilizations.
Use in play
Coordinate military upgrades with the units actually being produced. Protect the economic investment in Town Center development while using the roster that fits the opponent.
Shrines and economy
Japanese economic buildings and landmarks provide a distinct approach to gathering and Town Center development. Shinto Shrines can interact with nearby resources, while Daimyo structures and age-up choices shape later growth. Keep expansion and military spending aligned so that investment in the economy does not leave the base exposed.
Infantry, cavalry and gunpowder
Samurai, Onna-Bugeisha, mounted units and gunpowder troops create a broad but upgrade-sensitive roster. Bannermen and civilization-specific technologies can improve selected groups. Identify which unit line will answer the opponent before researching its upgrades; protect slower gunpowder and siege units with a frontline.
