How the dogs work
There are 8 dogs to find across Manhattan. Each zone holds one dog, shown on the map when you get close (marked by a paw print). Every dog wants its plush toy — always the same small blue dragon, always sitting in the dog's immediate surroundings. Pick it up, carry it back, and interact with the dog.
Finding any Mysterious Dog adds the side quest Every Dog Has Her Day to your log. After helping the dogs in all 7 zones, hold down on the D-pad to visit The Gap and interact with the dog there — that earns the Dog's Best Friend trophy/achievement, closes the quest, and grants the Untapped Trusted Spanner artifact. You can also pet a dog after returning its toy.
Dog locations
- Downtown — in the southwest corner of Downtown, on a roof; the toy sits on the roof to the left of the dog.
- Central — on a rooftop in east Central; the toy lies at the end of the alley below the dog, in the direction the dog is facing.
- West Incursion Zone — in the northwest corner, on a roof that needs climbing with the Shift ability (from Jesse Sightings: The Incursion Fault); the toy is on the next roof the dog is looking at.
- Evacuation Zone — in the north of the zone, on a rooftop; standing by the dog, the toy is on the roof directly above (an upside-down roof) — use Shift to latch onto it, then Shift again to jump back to the dog.
- The Park — in the northeast corner; the toy is behind the dog on a roof with a yellow lift platform. To reach it, go to the Power Core Station and carry electricity to the lift. The station is marked slightly west of the dog, but the charge can't be carried straight there in time — first store the electricity in one of the boxes on a rooftop along the way (the power-cube roof sits midway between the station and the dog, entered through the roof doors), then carry it from there to the lift.
- Underpass — on a platform between the Halfway Trail fast travel door and the Research Site area; reaching it needs heavy Gravity Shift use plus the Reach ability for grapple points (Jesse Sightings: The Subway Fault). The toy is directly above the dog on the opposite-gravity floor: find the pillar with orange pipes and a white radiator, jump from the radiator to the ceiling and Shift to grab the toy, then drop it (square button) while jumping toward the dog so the opposite gravity carries it up; use Reach on the side ledge to return to the dog and pick it up.
- The Unknown — on the northwest island; Pope's Research is required to travel there. This toy is much farther than the others: it's near the top of the skyscraper the dog faces; use Gravity Shift on the neighboring building, walk up, and jump across near the skyscraper's top.
- The Gap — after all 7 zone dog interactions, visit The Gap and interact with the dog once more to finish the quest.
Tips
There is no fixed order — any dog starts the quest. Dogs 3, 4, 6, and 7 are gated behind the Shift and Reach traversal abilities and (for The Unknown) Pope's Research, so consider finishing the dogs after the story, when free-roam gives you everything. For the complete quest rundown, see Every Dog Has Her Day, and for the wider completion path, the 100% Completion Roadmap.
