Currencies Guide

Minecraft Dungeons II runs on three currencies plus souls, each with its own cap, sources and spending outlets. Understanding which activities pay which currency is the basis of all economic planning.

Emeralds (cap 9,999)

Emeralds buy gear from the Town Merchant Guide and pay for Blacksmith Guide power upgrades. An emerald block is worth 9 emeralds; mobs, quests and Soul Storm chests mix blocks into their drops, while chests, pots, the Piggy Bank and the Excavator's backpack drop singles only. The open world holds 1,253 emerald pots and 237 chests — pots average more total emeralds than chests. Per-source averages: mobs pay little per kill (~0.3), chests average 15, pots 3, and quests pay 14.6 to 108.8 by size. Salvaging unwanted gear also pays emeralds scaled by item power and rarity.

Echo shards (cap 100)

Echo shards pay for rerolls, Minecraft Dungeons II Enchanting Guide and vendor upgrades — see Echo Shards for the full breakdown. They come from tougher content: bosses average 7.5, minibosses 3.5, soul-corrupted mobs 2.5, dungeon and rift chests 6. Quests never pay echo shards, and the open world has only a single echo shard pot.

Enchantment points and souls

You gain 1 enchantment point per hero level (cap 99), spent at the Enchantsmith and refunded on disenchant. Souls (capacity 100) fill from kills — each mob lists its soul yield — and power artifacts; a Soul Storm generator drops one soul per 10 health lost.
