CAMPAIGN · THE ART OF WAR
Defending Against a Rush
Maintain economic growth while defending a vulnerable early settlement. Use walls, buildings, and towers to close entry routes, protect exposed Villagers, and create enough space to continue advancing.

Overview
Maintain economic growth while defending a vulnerable early settlement. Use walls, buildings, and towers to close entry routes, protect exposed Villagers, and create enough space to continue advancing.
Player approach
Defending Against A Rush teaches a compact wall response to Scout Cavalry and Men-at-Arms. Close the gaps early, repair while the enemy attacks, and use the Korean wood discount for counter units.
Step-by-step plan
Follow the narration and place Palisade Walls with Houses to block the small treeline openings. Keep Villagers ready to repair sections under attack. Add Spearmen against Scout Cavalry and Archers against Men-at-Arms, using stone income for Stone Walls if the scenario allows the upgrade. Build extra towers only where they improve the defense.
Risks and adjustments
The starting towers alone are not enough if attackers enter through an open gap. Keep repair Villagers safe and do not overbuild towers when a short wall and counter force will hold.
