CAMPAIGN · THE FORGOTTEN

Emperor of the West

Move Alaric’s force across Italy and the sea to find Emperor Honorius, only to discover that Sarus has turned against the Goths. Withdraw to a nearby village, establish an economy, and bring down Sarus’s fortress.

Overview

Player approach

Emperor of the West is a protected march from Alaric’s western start to the port, then an amphibious move toward Ravenna. Avoid the main-road ambush and keep the leader with the embarked force.

Step-by-step plan

Collect nearby Gaia soldiers while moving east, then turn north through the forest to bypass Saurus’ larger force on the road. Reach the civilian port and join Athaulf’s troops. Load the army into the provided transports, escort them with War Galleys and Fire Ships, and land south of Ravenna to avoid the guarded coastline. Keep the fleet between the transports and enemy naval forces through the crossing.

Risks and adjustments

The main road’s large group is stronger than the first attack and should be bypassed. Do not land near Ravenna’s fortified shore or let transports travel without warship cover.
