Player approach
Heroes of the Realm changes from defending Tao Qian’s Villagers against Cao Cao to defeating Lü Bu after the betrayal. Use separate plans for each phase and preserve the heroes for both.
Step-by-step plan
Train Villagers and reinforce the economy immediately. Spearmen and later Pikemen answer Cao Cao’s Light and Tiger Cavalry, while ranged support helps against his infantry. Keep Liu Bei and Guan Yu available for threats they can handle efficiently, but use the army to protect Tao Qian’s Villagers and key approaches. When the mission turns against Lü Bu, regroup with Cao Cao’s force and build a mixed counterarmy before advancing.
Risks and adjustments
Do not let the opening cavalry raids pick off Villagers or isolate the heroes. The diplomatic change creates a new front, so keep production and a reserve army ready instead of exhausting everything in phase one.
