GUIDE · BATTLE STRATEGY
Archer rush follow-through
An Archer rush needs a plan for converting early pressure into a Castle Age army or a sustained Feudal fight.

Overview
An Archer rush needs a plan for converting early pressure into a Castle Age army or a sustained Feudal fight.
Plan and execution
Keep the first Archers alive, add production only while food and gold remain balanced, and use scouting to decide whether to attack a resource, force walling, or protect an advance. Add Spearmen if cavalry threatens the firing line.
Risks and adaptation
If the opponent is fully walled or has a mass of Skirmishers, avoid repeated frontal trades. Stop adding Archers when the opening has created enough time to reach the next phase.
Decision example
Once the first Archer group reaches the opponent, check whether it can keep a resource idle without standing beneath Town Center fire. Add Fletching and reinforcements when the pressure still has a target; otherwise save the group for a Crossbow transition. Skirmishers and Scouts demand different support, so use scouting to choose Spearmen, your own Skirmishers, or a retreat. Keep worker production running at home while the ranged group moves, since a temporary lead disappears if the economy stalls.
