Bolas Rider snare-and-volley plan

Bolas Rider: Bolas Riders can slow targets so that slower melee units or foot archers have time to catch and damage them. Their control effect works best when attacks are spread across several targets rather than stacked onto one already-slowed unit.

Overview

Bolas Rider: Bolas Riders can slow targets so that slower melee units or foot archers have time to catch and damage them. Their control effect works best when attacks are spread across several targets rather than stacked onto one already-slowed unit.

Plan and execution

Use attack-move or patrol with a medium group so each Bolas Rider pressures a different enemy. Pair them with infantry or foot archers that can exploit the slowed formation, then switch to hit-and-run raids when the opposing army is out of position. Keep moving to preserve the unit’s ranged-cavalry advantage.

Risks and adaptation

Bolas Riders are less durable than many cavalry archers and do not benefit from every cavalry-archer upgrade. Avoid direct fights against a prepared ranged line or anti-cavalry screen, and do not waste the snare by focusing every rider on the same target.
