Bukhara river-trade and cavalry plan
Bukhara can sustain a strong mounted defense through allied trade, but its routes are exposed to patrolling enemies. Use the river economy and current Definitive Edition objectives to fund a force that can protect both the trade route and the base.

Overview
Bukhara can sustain a strong mounted defense through allied trade, but its routes are exposed to patrolling enemies. Use the river economy and current Definitive Edition objectives to fund a force that can protect both the trade route and the base.
Plan and execution
Scout the southern river and establish Trade Cog access near a safe mining camp so gold can arrive without relying on exposed land routes. Keep a mobile cavalry screen near the marked route to Khorasan and clear hostile patrols before sending trade units. Build around the available Sogdian Cataphracts or Savars, which can answer the enemy’s mounted and ranged pressure, and protect the economy while the force stages for the next objective. Recheck the active objectives before spending time on tower construction, since the Definitive Edition uses marked route points rather than the older tower-clearing task.
Risks and adaptation
White Hun patrols can attack trade units even when the diplomatic stance appears safe, so escort each route and do not assume a cleared path stays open. The fish and Dock options differ by edition, and the mounted-unit roster has changed across updates; use the current scenario’s available units and objectives.
