Overview

Change production when scouting confirms that the current army is losing its matchup, while using survivors to screen or support.

Plan and execution

Confirm the enemy composition, add suitable production, protect vulnerable troops, and stop reinforcing an obsolete line.

Risks and adaptation

A counter can be countered in turn. Confirm the threat, avoid overreacting to one unit, and keep a fallback if the opponent switches.

Decision example

When Knights appear, first confirm whether the opponent is also fielding Archers or siege. Spearmen may stop the mounted attack, but they should not be marched alone into a ranged army. Build the needed production structure, queue a first counter group, and use the old units to screen its arrival or raid elsewhere. Research upgrades that matter for the new line, then reassess after the next fight. If the opponent switches again, keep a small flexible reserve instead of sinking all resources into one answer.
