Overview

Lion of Africa opens with a pirate fleet attack and then asks you to choose whether the Emir should help control the sea. Protect Fort Graciosa while using a transport to reach the Emir and decide whether his naval support is worth the later cost.

Plan and execution

Lure the first pirate ships toward Fort Graciosa so its fire helps defeat them, and repair the Castle while it is still protecting the base. Remove the nearby Sea Walls that block movement, then load five soldiers into a Transport Ship and land inside the Emir’s city. If you want the Emir’s ships to pressure the pirates, deliver the Organ Gun and prepare later to counter his stronger towers if relations turn hostile. Keep the Organ Gun and transport screened on the return route, then build toward the objective of destroying the pirate Castle and all three Docks.

Risks and adaptation

Fort Graciosa’s failure condition differs by edition, so defend it as a priority even if an older rule set allows it to fall. The waters remain dangerous while transporting the Organ Gun. Giving it to the Emir trades stronger enemy defenses later for immediate naval help; keep enough economy and siege ready to handle whichever branch you choose.
