Overview

A built-in editor for designing custom maps, objectives, dialogue, and mission events.

What the editor controls

The Scenario Editor lets a creator place terrain, units, buildings, players, and objects, then define objectives and events through triggers. A map can therefore change the starting army, disable ordinary construction, award reinforcements, or set a victory condition that differs from Random Map. The scenario briefing and objectives are part of the rules, not just background text.

Reading and building scenarios

When playing a custom mission, inspect the starting inventory and explicit objectives before following a standard build order. When creating one, test the order in which triggers fire, whether every player has a valid starting position, and whether the victory condition can be reached. Editor-only and campaign objects may lack standard skirmish statistics, so do not treat their encyclopedia entry as a normal production option.
