Overview

Revisit important areas to reveal production changes, expansion, and exposed resources.

Plan and execution

Inspect the opponent’s base, resource routes, relics, and alternate approaches. Return after an Age advance or new military building; use another scout if needed.

Risks and adaptation

Circling a defended base can lose a scout without answering anything. Prioritize useful unknowns and combine vision with map control.

Decision example

Each scouting pass should answer one question. Early, locate food and the first military building; after an Age advance, check whether Stables, Ranges, or a forward Castle appeared. Later, follow Relic routes, outside gold, extra Town Centers, and trade lanes. Use the edge of vision to glimpse a defended base instead of riding through it. When the scout dies, replace its information with an Outpost, a mobile unit, or controlled ground. A stale report should not decide the next production switch.
