Arewa
Arewa is a Commerce Age University technology for the Hausa. It enables Hausa Builders to construct Watch Towers, extending the buildings those workers can place. The research costs 250 Influence and takes five seconds, and it requires Kano Chronicle. Arewa therefore connects a prerequisite technology to a new defensive construction option; it does not itself build a Watch Tower or provide the Builder who must construct it.

Effect & research conditions
First complete Kano Chronicle, then research Arewa at the University. Once the ability is unlocked, assign Hausa Builders to place Watch Towers where their defensive and vision role will support the settlement. The construction still needs a suitable position and the required resources under the current rules, so plan the site and worker access before committing to a forward tower.
Research condition
Hausa; Commerce Age; researched at the University; requires Kano Chronicle; costs 250 Influence; 5-second research time; enables Hausa Builders to construct Watch Towers.
When to research
Choose Arewa when Watch Towers can secure an exposed approach, protect important economic space or reinforce a controlled position. A tower placed too far from support can be isolated, so coordinate construction with scouting and an army able to respond. If the map offers no useful defensive sites, the Influence may have a more immediate use.
Unlocks a construction option for Hausa Builders
Arewa allows Hausa Builders to construct Watch Towers after the required Kano Chronicle technology. The research costs 250 Influence and takes five seconds at the University. It unlocks the builder’s option; it does not instantly place a Watch Tower, provide the Builder or waive the normal building cost. The player still needs to move a qualified Builder to a legal site and protect the construction.
Plan the defensive site before spending Influence
Choose Arewa when a Watch Tower can protect an exposed resource route or support a Hausa expansion. Since the short research only changes what Builders can build, identify a site and reserve the construction resources first. Kano Chronicle is a prerequisite, so include that earlier research in the timing rather than expecting Arewa at the start of the Commerce Age.
