Role, availability & values

The Cannon Boat is trained at the African Port. Its recorded long-range attack reaches 40 and has an area effect; the shorter attack reaches 20. It is a transport-capable combat ship, so its value includes both fire support and a crossing.

Matchup & timing

Use it where a water route connects an objective and the fleet can protect the landing. Escort the transported force with other ships or shore support, and avoid treating the Cannon Boat as a substitute for a dedicated naval screen.

African bombardment and transport

The Cannon Boat is a Fortress Age ship for the Ethiopians and Hausa, trained at the Port. It costs 300 Wood and 600 Coin, takes 40 seconds, uses a two-ship limit and has 1,300 hit points with 75% ranged resistance. Its ordinary attack deals 140 damage at range 20 every 3.5 seconds. The special long-range attack fires 80 damage at range 40 in an area of 3, with a 6.0 multiplier against Buildings and a 60-second cooldown. It also transports land units, so it can move a force to a shore while providing bombardment support. The long range is useful for attacking fortifications but less valuable when the target is inland or outside shoreline reach. It is vulnerable to enemy warships and Artillery; escort it and protect the landing rather than sending it alone toward a defended coast.

Transport capacity and ship counters

The Cannon Boat can carry land units and uses a 50-unit transport capacity in the listed profile. Its normal cannon attack and its long-range bombardment have different firing intervals and target modifiers, so choose the special attack when a fortification or valuable building can be reached from shore. Enemy warships can exploit its slow firing cycle; bring a naval escort and unload troops only after the landing area is covered.

Separate the ship attack from the siege shot

The Cannon Boat’s ordinary ranged attack deals 140 siege damage every 3.5 seconds at range 20 and has an area radius of one. Its Long-range attack is a separate ability: 80 base damage at range 40, a radius of three and a 60-second cooldown. Against Buildings the 6× modifier makes that shot 480 nominal damage before resistance and upgrades; against Docks or Ports, its 0.1× modifier reduces the same base hit to eight. The long shot is therefore for a high-value coastal structure, not a way to remove naval production efficiently. Cannon Boats cost 300 Wood and 600 Coin, take 40 seconds to train and are limited to two. Their 1,300 hit points and 75% ranged resistance support a siege role, while the 50-unit transport capacity lets them deliver an army. Keep a fleet screen around the ship and treat the landing force and artillery position as one plan.
