Function & construction
Hindu Villagers can construct it, as can eligible military wagons or units when the Battlefield Construction card enables them. Its available cavalry and improvements depend on the Indian roster and current Age. The building does not provide a generic Stable roster; options such as Sowars and Mahout Lancers have distinct roles and costs.
Placement & timing
Build a Caravanserai when cavalry can raid, flank or answer the opponent’s exposed ranged units. Scout for anti-cavalry troops before committing to a long production queue, and keep infantry or ranged support nearby. Place it within a defensible production area so reinforcements can reach the army safely.
Use the Indian cavalry roster
The Commerce Age building trains and upgrades Indian cavalry, including distinct options such as Sowars and Mahout Lancers. Hindu Villagers can build it, with additional construction access under Battlefield Construction. Select units for the matchup and available Age; the Caravanserai is not a generic Stable, and its production differs from infantry or elephant buildings.
Support cavalry with the right Indian line
The Commerce Age building gives Indians access to mounted options such as Sowars and Mahout Lancers. These units have distinct costs and battlefield roles, so choose based on the opponent rather than treating all cavalry as interchangeable. Protect the Caravanserai and maintain the resource income needed to keep its production active.
Cavalry options by Age and population cost
The Commerce Age roster offers Sowars for 80 Food and 80 Coin at 2 population, or Zamburaks for 60 Food and 60 Coin at 1 population. In the Fortress Age, Mahout Lancers cost 400 Food and 250 Wood and use 7 population, while Howdahs cost 250 Food and 350 Coin and use 6. This gives the building both a relatively light early camel option and costly late-game elephant cavalry. Check the opponent’s counters and the population each choice consumes before queuing a large group; the more expensive Fortress Age units need an economy and support force able to protect their investment.
