Map character

Phanar and Oldenburg settlements are possible, and Cossack Daredevil and Hajduk are listed outlaws. Scout the mountain passes, route and both coasts before choosing where to place a Trading Post or Dock. A landing can reach behind the land defense, but only if transports and the landing force are protected.

What to scout

Keep coverage near the coast as well as the mountain crossing; concentrating every unit at the pass leaves the shoreline open. Claim the Trade Route when your army can reinforce it, and use naval movement only with enough force to secure the landing. Protect workers at any forward site from attacks that arrive by either route.

Two shorelines divided by mountains

Caucasus places teams on opposing coasts divided by a short mountain range, with a central Trade Route. The route makes a fully defensive plan difficult, while the mountains complicate access to the nearest coastline. Enemy Docks and Transport Ships can threaten a shore behind the land defense.

Watch the coast as well as the pass

Phanar and Oldenburg settlements are possible; Cossack Daredevil and Hajduk are outlaws. Scout the route and both shorelines early. Keep units near the coast to answer a landing instead of concentrating at the mountain crossing. A transport is useful only when the army can protect its landing site. Caucasus includes both land and naval approaches.
