Colorado
Colorado is a Definitive Edition map split by mountains in the northwest and southeast. A Trade Route winds around the ridges through three fairly open passages, creating chokepoints that are difficult to fully wall. Cheyenne, Comanche and Navajo settlements and Pistolero and Renegado Outlaws can shape the land contest.

Map character
Scout both sides of each mountain before placing a Trading Post or forward base. Identify which passage stays open for reinforcements and where the opponent can move around a ridge. The route’s turns make its sections harder to defend as one line; researching Stagecoach or Iron Horse upgrades both players’ routes, so consider the opponent’s access before making that investment.
What to scout
Contest the route with a force that can move between its sections. Avoid sending the whole army through one mountain approach if a second passage can expose its flank. Place forward production near a path that can be held, and retain a known retreat route if the opponent captures the other side.
Do not let the trade upgrade benefit the opponent
Colorado’s Trade Route passes through shared chokepoints, and the in-game map information warns that Stagecoach or Iron Horse research improves both routes. That can aid an opponent who already controls more posts. Count the sites and inspect ownership before paying for the upgrade. The mountain passages also make vision important: keep scouts on alternate routes so a force defending one Trading Post is not surprised from behind a ridge. Use the terrain to delay attacks, but do not mistake a narrow passage for a complete wall.
