Dinghy
Dinghy is a small boat used in selected Age of Empires III scenarios and map starts. It can gather Fish or Whales and transport up to 10 land units, combining a limited economic role with short-distance troop movement. The Scenario Editor profile lists 420 hit points, 30% ranged resistance and speed 5.0. It is not a boat that players can train in ordinary Skirmish or campaign play; its access is determined by the scenario setup.

Role, availability & values
Use the Dinghy only for the functions available in the current mission or map. It can carry troops across suitable water and gather from supported marine resources, but its modest role does not make it a warship. Check the water route before loading units and keep the boat away from opposing warships that can destroy it.
Training & availability
Scenario- and map-specific unit; gathers Fish or Whales; transports up to 10 units; Scenario Editor profile: 420 hit points, 30% ranged resistance, speed 5.0; not trainable in ordinary Skirmish or campaign play.
Matchup & timing
Use it when a scenario provides one and a transport or fishing task supports the objective. The 10-unit capacity can move a small force, but plan a safe landing and avoid sending it into contested waters. If the scenario does not provide a Dinghy, there is no ordinary production route to add one.
Map-start boat, not a Dock unit
The Dinghy is not a Fishing Boat that a Dock can train. The cited map starts provide it to players at the beginning, while the Scenario Editor can place it separately. Its profile may list a resource cost and training time, but those fields do not create a normal production route in Skirmish or campaign. On the named maps, use the boat already supplied rather than planning to replace it from a Dock.
Transport and gathering are secondary tasks
A capacity of 20 land units can move a group across nearby water, but the Dinghy cannot fight or protect a landing. Choose a safe shore and keep warships away from the route. When no troop crossing is needed, use it to fish or whale where those resources are accessible. The boat is most useful away from direct combat, where its transport or income role can continue without requiring a naval escort.
