Food Crates is an Exploration Age Consulate technology for the Chinese and Indians when allied with the French. It costs Export and delivers four Food crates for a total of 400 Food. This is a stored resource shipment rather than a permanent gathering bonus, and its current value differs from earlier versions.

The technology takes 30 seconds and currently costs 150 Export. On completion it sends four crates containing 400 Food in total. The Asian Dynasties release required the Colonial Age, cost 300 Export and delivered one 500-Food crate; update 61213 moved access to the Exploration Age and changed the cost and shipment, while update 13.27885 set the current four-crate, 400-Food delivery. Collect and spend the crates according to the active Consulate and shipment rules.

When to research
Use it when a 400-Food injection can complete a planned unit batch or age-up and the delay will not miss the timing. Chinese and Indians need the French Consulate alliance, so compare the resource package with other alliance deliveries. Crates are finite and do not improve later gathering; prioritize a permanent economic upgrade or military reinforcement if that better serves the match.
The Food amount is the total across four crates
The current delivery consists of four crates containing 400 Food in total, rather than 400 Food per crate. This makes the research a one-time resource package that can be collected and spent on the next production or age-up requirement. It does not increase a Villager’s gathering rate.
Alliance and patch history
The Chinese or Indian Consulate must be allied with the French to access this option. Earlier release values were one 500-Food crate for 300 Export in the Colonial Age. Update 61213 moved it to the Exploration Age and revised it to three crates for 300 Food at 150 Export; update 13.27885 changed the current delivery to four crates for 400 Food.
