- Fulani Archer Line of Sight +2, can slowly gather wood from trees and gets long range attack
Effect & research conditions
Research costs 1,000 Influence and takes 30 seconds. Fulani Archers gain +2 Line of Sight, can gather Wood from trees at 0.125 Wood per second and receive a 13-damage ranged attack at range 17–21 with a 3-second interval. The research combines scouting and a limited economic role with a new combat option; it does not make the Archer a replacement for Villagers.
Research condition
Available to Hausa from the Fortress Age. Research it at University. It requires Fulani Alliance.
When to research
Research when Fulani Archers are already part of the Hausa army and the extra vision or firing range can be used. The tree-gathering rate is slow, so do not spend 1,000 Influence solely to obtain Wood. Protect the Archers while gathering and use the longer sight to scout approaches from behind the frontline.
A military unit with secondary utility
Fulani Archers gain two Line of Sight and a 13-damage ranged attack at range 17–21, firing every three seconds. They can also gather Wood from trees at 0.125 Wood per second. This is a slow auxiliary task, not an efficient way to replace Villagers or establish the Wood economy.
Alliance, research cost and positioning
The Hausa research this at the University in the Fortress Age after choosing the Fulani Alliance. It costs 1,000 Influence and takes 30 seconds. Use the added sight to monitor approaches and the long-range attack from protected positions; keep the Archers screened and gather only when the area is safe.
