Role, availability & values

Production is available through European Dock. It has 600 hit points and 60% ranged resistance. It moves at 10 speed. Training costs 300 Wood and 100 Coin; it takes 40 seconds to train. Attack profile: Ranged attack: 100 damage at range 20; every 2.0 seconds; area of effect 1. Broadside attack: 40 damage (4) at range 20; every 0.05 seconds; area of effect 1. Special ability or role: Transports land units; Gathers from fishes and whales.

Matchup & timing

Use this transport for a planned crossing or landing rather than sending it alone into contested water. Its listed speed is 10, so load the army before the route becomes unsafe and allow time for the return trip. The page also records a ranged attack at 20 range; use that profile as support, not as a substitute for a protected landing. Unload where the force has room to form up, keep an escort near the ship, and protect the shore while the last units disembark.

Ottoman transport and naval fire

Galley is an Ottoman Commerce Age ship built at the European Dock for 300 Wood and 100 Coin. It trains in 40 seconds, has 600 hit points, 60% ranged resistance, speed 10 and line of sight 26. It can transport land units and gather from fish and whales, letting it combine an economic task with a troop crossing. Its ranged attack deals 100 siege damage at range 20 every two seconds; the broadside delivers four 40-damage hits at the same range. The siege damage makes it useful against structures or targets vulnerable to siege, but the 600-hit-point hull should not be sent alone into a contested fleet. Use it to move troops to a safe shore, gather while waters are secure and support a coordinated naval attack. Scout the unloading point before loading valuable units, and keep an escort near the ship. Its Commerce Age access gives Ottomans a flexible naval option, but the 300/100 cost competes with land production and other ships. Protect the Dock and plan the route so the Galley can return or remain under allied cover.

Broadside and siege attack

Galley has two recorded naval attack profiles: a ranged siege attack of 100 damage at range 20 every two seconds and a broadside of four 40-damage hits at that range. The broadside’s grouped hits can pressure a target quickly, while the ranged attack supplies repeated siege damage. It also has 10 speed, which helps it move between a Dock, fishing ground and landing site. The ship gathers from fish and whales, so a safe Galley can contribute to the economy while supporting transport. Its 600 hit points and 60% ranged resistance provide durability, but the 300-Wood and 100-Coin investment is significant. Keep it with an escort when enemy ships are present, and use the transport ability only after the landing zone is scouted. Do not confuse its Ottoman-specific roster with other European Dock units that share the word Galley in other games or genres; this page describes the AOE3 unit.

Ottoman coastal economy

The ship’s fish and whale gathering can continue while it remains in safe water, and its transport capacity can move troops to another shore. Use these functions only when the fleet can protect the area; a Galley caught away from support risks losing both its army cargo and its economic role.

Unloading and escort

Scout a landing before loading troops and keep an escort ship nearby. Its transport value is lost if the Galley is destroyed while carrying the army.

Ottoman transport and fishing warship

The Ottoman Galley becomes available at the Dock in the Commerce Age, replacing the Caravel in the Ottoman naval roster. It costs 300 Wood and 100 Coin, takes 40 seconds to train and is limited to five under the recorded profile. Its 600 hit points, 60% ranged resistance and speed of 10 let it explore and contest water while retaining a transport role. A 50-unit garrison capacity can move a large land force across a water route, but the ship must survive the crossing and reach a safe unloading point.

Two attacks and resource gathering

The Galley’s ordinary ranged attack deals 100 damage at range 20, with a listed 0.5× modifier against Artillery. Its broadside attack fires in a short burst, lists 40 damage per shot and a 2.0× bonus against Ships, then has a 60-second cooldown. It can also gather from Fish and Whales, so it can contribute to the water economy when it is not needed for transport or combat. Those jobs compete for the same fleet: protect a gathering Galley, and do not assume it can fish safely while an enemy controls the coast.
