Effect & research conditions
Research costs 300 Wood and 300 Coin and takes 30 seconds. The work-rate benefit applies to training and research at Docks and Ports; it is not a direct ship-speed or ship-hit-point bonus. The extra Battleship limit permits one additional Battleship beyond the prior cap if the player can afford and produce it. Access requires the House of Phanar settlement.
Research condition
Available from the Exploration Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Phanar palace.
When to research
Research when the match has enough water access for sustained Dock or Port activity and the economy can use the faster queues. The added Battleship limit matters only if the player intends to build to that cap. On a land-focused map or without a protected coastline, invest in ground forces or economy first.
Faster ship queues and a higher cap
Greek Shipyards improves Dock and Port training and research work rates by 40%, then increases the Battleship limit by one. It helps a player who already uses the water economy and naval technology; it does not grant a free Battleship or make a Dock immune to attack. Protect the shoreline and keep resources available to use the faster production.
Locate the right palace settlement
The technology comes from a Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Phanar palace. A post on another Minor Civilization does not satisfy the condition. Scout the site, secure the settlement and compare the 300 Wood and 300 Coin investment with the naval options available on the current map.
