Healing Ceremony

Healing Ceremony is a Fortress Age option on the Aztec Community Plaza that lets idle units recover health. It gives the army a way to restore surviving troops between engagements, provided the Plaza workers and the recovering force can remain safe.

Effect & access

Villagers assigned to the Community Plaza perform the selected ceremony, and its effect applies to idle units. Units still fighting or under attack cannot safely take advantage of a quiet recovery period. Healing does not return lost units and does not instantly refill a damaged force. The ceremony choice also occupies the Plaza while active, so it competes with other Aztec community benefits.

When to perform it

Choose Healing after a costly fight when the surviving army can withdraw behind defenses and wait. Keep the Plaza protected and use scouts or a screen to warn of another approach. It is less useful when the next objective cannot wait, the area is unsafe, or the army needs an immediate call-in from another ceremony.

Recovery depends on a safe pause

The ceremony turns time out of combat into an opportunity to preserve damaged units. Pull survivors away from enemy fire and let them idle near a protected position; moving them straight back into combat defeats the purpose. A screen around the recovery area can prevent a raid from catching the army while it is waiting.

A Community Plaza choice

Healing Ceremony uses the Aztec Community Plaza, whose villagers can support different ceremonies. Choosing healing means that the Plaza is not simultaneously providing another ceremony’s effect. Use it when keeping experienced or expensive survivors matters more than the alternative benefit, then reassess the Plaza once the army is ready to move.
