Horse Secrets
Horse Secrets is a Haudenosaunee Commerce Age Big Button technology researched at the Corral. It increases cavalry speed by 10% and reduces cavalry training time by 35%, improving both the army’s ability to move across the map and the rate at which it can be reinforced.

Effect & research conditions
Research takes 10 seconds and costs 400 Wood and 400 Coin. The speed and production effects apply to cavalry, including the Horsemen and Musket Riders named in its in-game description. The Old Ways Home City Card reduces the research cost to 200 Wood and 200 Coin when its Industrial Age effect is available. The discount changes the investment, not the technology’s listed combat effect.
Research condition
Available to Haudenosaunee from the Commerce Age. Research it at Corral.
When to research
Research before queuing a sustained cavalry force or when the speed increase will help raid, reinforce or choose engagements. Faster training is useful only when the economy can keep the Corral supplied, so prepare resources and queue production after the research finishes. If cavalry cannot safely fight the opponent’s anti-cavalry units, save the cost for a different army plan.
A mobility and reinforcement upgrade
Horse Secrets gives a cavalry army two connected benefits: units travel 10% faster and are trained 35% faster. The speed bonus helps the player react to raids and reach targets; the production bonus shortens the wait for replacements. Neither effect provides units by itself. Keep the Corral safe and maintain the Food and Coin needed to use the shorter production cycle.
Old Ways changes the price
The Old Ways Home City Card reduces Horse Secrets’ cost to 200 Wood and 200 Coin in the Industrial Age. Without that card effect, the listed research cost is 400 of each resource. The card’s discount can make the upgrade easier to fit into a mature economy, but its later-age timing may mean the cavalry benefit arrives after earlier map-control opportunities. Weigh the discount against when the mobility is actually needed.
