Sohei Archer abilities

Intonjutsu Stealth is a Japanese Commerce Age technology researched at the Monastery. It costs 200 Wood and 200 Coin and takes 15 seconds. The upgrade allows Sohei Archers to enter stealth mode and grants them the Dodge passive ability, which lets them occasionally evade incoming attacks. It changes how the unit can approach and survive a fight, rather than increasing its listed attack damage.

Ambush and withdrawal use

Stealth can help Sohei Archers move into position without being immediately exposed, while Dodge adds a chance to survive incoming attacks. Use the two effects to support an ambush, reposition around enemy vision, or withdraw a damaged group; neither makes the archers invulnerable. The Monastery research competes with other investments, so it is most useful when the Japanese army already relies on Sohei Archers. Keep conventional frontline units nearby: stealth and evasion improve the unit’s options but do not replace protection from Cavalry or other counters.
