Japanese Mercenary Company

Japanese Mercenary Company is a Chinese Consulate option from The Asian Dynasties, not a Japanese civilization unit-production building. Selecting it sends a company of three Yojimbos as a single Consulate choice. The company format makes it a specific imported reinforcement package rather than an ordinary Japanese Stable queue.

Role, availability & values

The recorded package is available from the Commerce Age, uses 12 population and takes 20 seconds to produce at the Consulate. It delivers three Yojimbos. The Consulate’s foreign roster is tied to Chinese Export and diplomacy choices, so check that the Japanese option is enabled in the active setup before planning around the company.

Training & availability

Campaign-only Chinese Consulate Banner Army in Act II: China; Commerce Age; select Japanese Mercenaries; 380 Export with the Japanese Mercenaries cost bonus; 20 seconds; 12 population; 3 Yojimbos.

Matchup & timing

Choose it when a compact cavalry reinforcement fits the army and can arrive at the timing the match requires. Account for the population and Consulate commitment, and use the Yojimbo page for the unit’s individual attack profile and matchups. Since the company arrives together, protect the group while it travels to the front.

Campaign availability and cost

This Banner Army is available only to the Chinese in Act II: China, where the Consulate must select Japanese Mercenaries and the player must reach the Commerce Age. It costs 380 Export with the Japanese Mercenaries cost bonus, takes 20 seconds and occupies 12 population for three Yojimbos. Do not plan around it as a standard random-map Consulate option.

Using the three-unit company

The small company delivers a compact group rather than a broad mixed army. Its value depends on whether the mission’s current objective benefits from the Yojimbo unit role and whether the force can travel safely to the fight. Check the Yojimbo entry for individual combat characteristics, reserve the full 12 population, and compare the delivery delay with the campaign mission’s immediate pressure.
