José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva

José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva was the Brazil Revolution leader option for the Dutch and Portuguese in The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties. Definitive Edition uses a separate nation-based Revolution system, so this older leader effect does not describe the later Brazil content.

APPLIES TO The WarChiefs (2006) and The Asian Dynasties (2007); removed in Definitive Edition

Version & availability

In a supported older version, choosing Bonifácio sends 20 Tupi Blackwood Archers to the Home City shipment point and automatically researches the Legendary Native Warriors improvement for allied Native warriors. The reward therefore combines immediate ranged units with an upgrade that depends on having allied Native warriors.

Revolution bonus

Consider the leader when the map provides Native settlements and the army can use both the shipment and the improved allied units. If there is no practical Native access or the army needs a different role, compare another Revolution option. Do not apply these effects to Definitive Edition’s Brazil Revolution.

Older Brazil Revolution rules only

In supported WarChiefs and Asian Dynasties versions, choosing this Brazil Revolution leader sends twenty Tupi Blackwood Archers and automatically researches Legendary Native Warriors for allied Native Warriors. Its value depends on access to Native settlements and an army that can use the improvement. Definitive Edition uses a different nation-based Revolution system, so these older leader effects must not be carried over to the modern Brazil entry.
