Magyar Hussar
Magyar Hussar is the Hungarian upgrade of the Hussar. It is a fast hand cavalry unit whose revolution-specific bonuses make it much more durable and damaging than the ordinary profile, and it can also appear from Ottoman Outposts in the Hungary path.

Combat statistics
The listed Fort-trained profile costs 120 Food and 80 Coin and trains in 40 seconds. Since Definitive Edition update 19.17293, it uses 3 population and has 640 hit points; the previous profile used 2 population and had 960 hit points. It has 20% ranged resistance, speed 6.75 and line of sight 15. Its siege attack deals 30 damage at range 6 every 3 seconds; its hand attack deals 45 damage every 1.5 seconds. The revolution grants Veteran and Guard status, +50% hit points and +1 population cost in this ruleset; before update 19.17293 the bonus was +200% hit points and +50% damage. These figures describe the Revolutionary Magyar Hussar and should not be confused with the United States Consulate counterpart.
Cavalry role & counters
Use its speed and durability to threaten ranged units, raid exposed Villagers and pursue artillery, while screening it from anti-cavalry infantry and concentrated ranged fire. A Magyar Hussar force benefits from the Hungary structure-and-shipment plan: protect the Outposts that spawn them and use the cavalry to respond quickly to threats across the map. Do not treat its high hit points as immunity to counters; choose an engagement the army can support.
Reading its listed combat profile
The listed Fort-trained unit costs 120 Food and 80 Coin and takes 40 seconds to train. In Definitive Edition after update 19.17293, it has 640 hit points and uses 3 population; before the update its profile showed 960 hit points and 2 population. Its 20% ranged resistance and speed of 6.75 describe a unit designed to survive a mobile engagement, not an invulnerable cavalry unit. The siege attack deals 30 damage at range 6 on a 3-second interval; the hand attack deals 45 damage every 1.5 seconds. Since Definitive Edition update 19.17293, Hungary grants the Hussar Veteran and Guard status, +50% hit points and +1 population cost. Before that update, the bonus was +200% hit points and +50% damage. The exact base numbers shown above belong to the Magyar Hussar entry and can vary if another civilization bonus or upgrade applies.
Choose targets and protect the investment
The Magyar Hussar can cross the map quickly to pressure an exposed economy, catch ranged units away from their screen, or chase artillery after the main force has opened a path. Its high cost and 3 population per unit after update 19.17293 (2 before that update) make losses expensive, so avoid charging into a prepared line of anti-cavalry infantry. Keep it moving between useful targets instead of letting it absorb concentrated fire. When defending, the speed can answer a raid or reinforce an Outpost under attack; when attacking, coordinate its arrival with the infantry or siege that can handle heavy infantry. A cavalry shipment or training option is valuable only while the player can sustain its Food and Coin cost.
Balance changes altered its population tradeoff
Before Definitive Edition update 19.17293, the Hungary Revolutionary Magyar Hussar had 960 hit points and used 2 population. The current profile has 640 hit points and uses 3 population; the Revolution’s listed hit-point bonus also changed from +200% to +50%, with a one-population increase. This is a substantial change to how many can fit in an army. Use the current values for the present ruleset and older figures only when reading pre-update strategy references.
