Delivers 1 American Citadel Travois

Effect & research conditions

The research costs 400 Wood and 400 Coin and takes 60 seconds. The wagon is the reward; it is not a finished Citadel on arrival. It has to travel to a legal location and builds the structure over 50 seconds. Researching Maya Pyramids is also the unlock condition for obtaining the Travois in the relevant Definitive Edition rules.

Research condition

Available from the Commerce Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a Maya settlement or Native Embassy (Maya).

When to research

Research when a protected location exists for the Citadel and the player can escort the wagon during construction. The fortification can secure a route or forward area, but the long research and build time mean it is not an emergency defense. Reserve population for the wagon and protect the settlement or Embassy access point.

The technology starts a two-stage fortification plan

First the player spends time and resources researching Maya Pyramids; then the American Citadel Travois must travel and construct the Citadel. Scout its intended site before starting the technology, because an exposed wagon or foundation can waste the timing. The Citadel itself is placed without the ordinary building cost, but requires 50 seconds to complete. Escort it and coordinate the finished position with the army so the fortification can be held.
