Training & availability
Appears at Cherokee war camps in Defend the Colony, the first scenario of Act II: Ice. It can also be placed through the Scenario Editor by replacing another unit; it is not a normal Native Embassy or Trading Post unit.
Matchup & timing
In the campaign, attack the southern war camps only if the mission plan justifies taking on their guards; the Chiefs are not part of the assault waves against John Black’s Mercenaries. When using the unit in a custom scenario, place it behind a screen and use its range to support other troops.
Encounter the Chief at the southern war camps
The Chief appears with the heavily guarded Cherokee camps south of the colony. The main attacks on John Black’s Mercenaries do not include these Chiefs; the player encounters them by choosing to assault the camps. That makes the unit an optional campaign threat rather than a required part of every defense wave. Scout the guards and commit only if clearing the camp supports the mission plan.
A durable ranged profile with restricted access
The recorded unit has 600 hit points, 10% hand resistance, 5 speed and 20 Line of Sight. Its ranged attack deals 9 damage at range 18 every 1.5 seconds, while its siege attack deals 10 at range 6. Food and Wood costs appear in the editor profile, but the campaign article explicitly states it is not normally selectable. Scenario Editor placement is a custom-map use, not evidence of ordinary Native Embassy production.
