Role, availability & values

The Travois has 150 hit points and moves at 4.0 speed. It must reach a legal site and complete construction before the Embassy’s recruitment or alliance functions can be used. The Embassy’s roster and access depend on the civilization and map; the wagon does not deliver Native units by itself.

Matchup & timing

Choose a site that provides access to a useful roster and can be defended. Scout before sending the fragile wagon and escort it through contested ground. Protect the Embassy after construction so the investment can support the army rather than becoming an easy target.

Building a minor-civilization alliance

The Native Embassy Travois is a free mobile builder supplied to several civilizations in the Definitive Edition, including Federal Americans, Dutch, Inca, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico and Peru. It has 150 hit points, moves at 4.0 speed, sees eight tiles and has 20% siege resistance. Its job is to reach a legal location and build a Native Embassy; it does not itself train the allied units or provide the alliance’s technologies. Once the Embassy is complete, the available roster depends on the map’s minor civilizations and on the civilization using it. This makes scouting important: choose a settlement whose units or technologies complement the planned force, then place the building where it can be defended. The Travois is fragile compared with a combat unit and loses its value if caught alone, so escort it across contested ground and avoid routing it through enemy fire. African civilizations use a distinct Native Embassy Builder arrangement, while some civ-specific or Royal variants follow their own acquisition rules. The shared purpose remains access to a Native Embassy; consult the Embassy and minor-civilization entries for the actual recruitable roster rather than assuming every map offers the same alliance.

Civilization-specific access

Availability should be read as a list of civilizations that may receive the Travois, not as a promise that every player can produce it from a standard military building. Federal Americans, Dutch, Inca, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico and Peru have Definitive Edition access through their respective rules or shipments. This is separate from ordinary Native Embassy construction and from African variants such as the Native Embassy Builder. The completed Embassy’s options are also map-dependent: a site can only support the minor civilizations and technologies present in that match. Check the parent civilization and Native Embassy pages when planning a specific alliance so the route and roster match the scenario.

Mobile Native Embassy construction

The Native Embassy Travois is a free-building wagon available to several civilizations, including Federal Americans, Dutch, Inca, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico and Peru in the recorded profile. It builds a Native Embassy at a legal site, allowing access to allied units or other options when the map and civilization permit them. The Travois has 150 hit points, four speed and eight line of sight. It does not deliver Native units by itself; the Embassy must be completed and the local roster must support the desired alliance.

Site selection and convoy protection

Scout the settlement and choose a location that offers a useful roster and can be defended. A free Embassy still costs travel time and can be denied if the wagon is intercepted. Escort it through contested ground, then protect the finished structure so its access remains available. Native Embassies and settlement Trading Posts may have different rosters and rules; check which one the active civilization can use. The Travois is most valuable when it saves resources while securing a real army or technology option, not when it is sent to an exposed site without a follow-up plan.
