Salt Mine

Salt Mines are a large but slow Coin deposit introduced with The African Royals. Each holds 10,000 Coin, twice the stock of a Gold Mine, but gathers at 0.7 per second—30% slower than standard mines. Up to 20 gatherers can work the deposit.

Resource amount & access

Villagers and Miners can gather from the mine, and Market improvements such as Placer Mines and Amalgamation increase mining efficiency. A Trading Post at a Berber settlement unlocks the Berber Salt Camel, which can transform into a Salt Mine. While that mine is present, another Salt Camel cannot be trained, so the first deployment occupies the option until the deposit is removed.

Map scouting & economy

The large stock suits a long match, but the slower rate means the mine does not provide an immediate surge like a normal mine. Protect the site and consider distributing gatherers across other deposits when available. If using a Salt Camel, choose a position that workers can reach safely and weigh the persistent Coin supply against the unit and settlement investment.

A large reserve gathered more slowly

The 10,000-Coin stock is twice the listed Gold Mine reserve, but the 0.7-per-second base rate is slower than a standard mine. The Salt Mine therefore rewards reliable long-term access more than a sudden Coin burst. Up to 20 gatherers can work it, and mining improvements at the Market can raise returns; the finite reserve still sets a limit on total income. Decide how many workers it deserves by comparing the slow base rate, the safety of the site and the Coin demand of the army.

Berber Salt Camel commitment

The Berber Salt Camel option is tied to a Trading Post at a Berber settlement. Once the Camel transforms into a Salt Mine, another Salt Camel cannot be trained while that mine remains. This makes placement a strategic commitment: choose a position close enough for workers to reach and defensible enough to protect for an extended period. The mine creates a gathering site, not automatic Coin income, so reserve Villagers or Miners and include the worker travel and protection in the investment.
