Silver Mine

Silver Mines are finite Coin deposits available in Age of Empires III. Each contains 2,000 Coin and uses the standard mine gather rate of 1 per second, with a maximum of 20 gatherers. The deposit is smaller than a Gold Mine but can provide an important early or mid-game Coin source.

Resource amount & access

Villagers and other mining gatherers work the deposit directly. Market upgrades such as Placer Mines and Amalgamation improve the rate. A mine’s practical value depends on distance to the Town Center or safe drop-off and whether opponents can raid the workers. Once the 2,000 Coin has been collected, the resource node is depleted.

Map scouting & economy

Scouting identifies whether Silver Mines offer a safer alternative to a distant Gold Mine and helps avoid moving too many workers to a source that will soon run out. Use the finite stock for a planned shipment, unit batch or age-up, then shift gatherers to the next mine or a renewable Coin source. Walls, Outposts and army patrols can protect an exposed mining group when its value justifies the cost.

A predictable but finite Coin supply

A Silver Mine holds 2,000 Coin, gathers at a base rate of one per second and supports up to 20 gatherers in the recorded profile. It is smaller than a Gold Mine, so the deposit is best suited to a defined stretch of production or research rather than a permanent economy. Market technologies such as Placer Mines and Amalgamation improve the gathering rate, but the total stock remains finite. More workers can accelerate access to the Coin while exhausting the deposit sooner.

Secure the workers and prepare the next source

The mine's value depends on its distance from safety and the opponent's ability to raid it. Scout for a replacement before assigning a large group, and use an Outpost, patrol or army presence when the deposit is valuable enough to defend. Once the mine is depleted, workers must move to another source; arranging that transition early helps keep unit queues and Age advancement funded. Compare the Silver Mine with a more distant deposit rather than assuming the closest visible site is automatically safest.
