When to research
Complete State Religion immediately before the Mexican Federal State age-up you want to accelerate: the next age-up takes 50 seconds less and ships double experience. The effect applies to the next Federal State transition, not every later age-up. Have the Cathedral research and the 500 Coin ready before starting that sequence.
Improve the next Mexican Federal State advance
State Religion is a Commerce Age Mexican Cathedral technology. It costs 500 Coin and takes five seconds. It shortens the next Federal State Age-up time by 50 seconds and doubles the experience shipped by that next Federal State advance.
Research before selecting the Federal State
The effect applies to the next age-up, so complete it before choosing the Federal State whose timing and shipment should benefit. It does not affect every later Age advance. Compare the five-second research and Coin cost with the expected value of the faster transition and doubled experience.
