The Rescue (Ice)

The Rescue is scenario three of Act II: Ice in The WarChiefs campaign, set in 1756. John Black’s Mercenaries must organize an attack from the southern side to rescue the captives. The mission combines a developing economy with a directional assault, so force composition and the route of approach matter as much as raw unit count.

Scenario setting & objectives

The required task is to train an army and attack the British from the south. An optional goal is to ally with other Haudenosaunee in the area. Use the base and production provided by the scenario to assemble a force suited to the defenders, then approach from the specified side rather than treating the British position as a target to rush from any direction.

Mission approach

Spend the opening time establishing production and scouting a safe southern route. Keep the army together for the assault and secure the optional alliance when it can support the attack without delaying it. Check the objective panel for the mission’s current state before committing to a different route or target.

Southern assault and optional alliance

The Rescue is the third scenario of Act II: Ice in The WarChiefs campaign, set in 1756. John Black’s Mercenaries must train an army and attack the British from the south to rescue captives. The required objective specifies the direction of the assault, so scouting and route planning matter as much as army size. Use the opening period to establish production, gather resources and identify the southern approach before committing the force. The optional objective is to ally with other Haudenosaunee in the area; take that opportunity if the alliance can support the attack without delaying the rescue. Keep the army together on the approach and avoid attacking the British from an unintended side. Scenario-specific resources, starting units and enemy positions may differ from a normal match, so follow the objective tracker and mission map. Protect workers while training the army, then rally reinforcements toward the southern route. The mission rewards preparing a force and using the intended approach rather than rushing directly into the British position. The linked Act II: Ice and Strange Alliances entries provide campaign context.

Building before the southern push

The mission gives the player time to train an army before the rescue attack, so use the opening to establish production and gather the resources needed for the target force. Scout the southern route and avoid allowing the British to meet the army in a narrow approach without support. The optional Haudenosaunee alliance can add strength if the site is reachable without delaying the assault. Keep John Black’s Mercenaries together and use reinforcements to replace losses along the route. The required objective is to attack the British from the south and rescue captives; taking a different route may fail the intended task or expose the force. Read the objective panel as the mission progresses and secure the alliance when the main force is ready. This scenario is part of Act II: Ice and follows the campaign’s earlier events.

Mission route

Train a force before the assault, approach from the south and rescue the captives. Secure the Haudenosaunee alliance when it can be done without delaying the required attack.

Required southern attack

The mission requires an attack from the south. Prepare the army and scout that route before moving against the British, then take the optional Haudenosaunee alliance if it fits the timing.

Optional Haudenosaunee alliance

Allying with nearby Haudenosaunee can add support to the rescue force. Secure it only if the southern route and assault timing remain intact.

Build the counterattack around the Haudenosaunee village

The third Act II: Ice scenario asks John Black and Ká:nien to protect a small Haudenosaunee village and Nonahkee from a British attack. The primary objective is to train an army and attack from the south side. An alliance with another Haudenosaunee group is optional and can provide additional support. Keep the village defended while the army is trained, then use the southern approach specified by the mission rather than walking into the British position from the most obvious direction. Protect Nonahkee and the heroes during the transition from defense to attack. If taking the optional alliance, secure its route without leaving the village exposed. This mission is about responding to the British threat while preserving the local community, not simply destroying the nearest enemy structure.
