Totora Reeds

Totora Reeds is an Inca Dock technology that combines recurring naval deliveries with upgrades to Chincha Rafts. Available in the Exploration Age, it costs 500 Food, 500 Wood and 500 Coin and takes 10 seconds to research. The effect delivers one Fishing Boat and one Chincha Raft for each five minutes of game time, up to 30 minutes; it also raises the Chincha Raft build limit by four and adds four line of sight and range to affected units. The time-based deliveries make early research more valuable over a long match.

Effect
Delivers 1 Fishing Boat and 1 Chincha Raft for every 5 minutes of game time, up to 30 minutes; Chincha Raft build limit +4, Line of Sight and range +4

Effect

Research it at a Dock and account for the elapsed game time when planning the boats and rafts it will deliver. Use the expanded build limit if producing additional Chincha Rafts, and apply the sight and range increase to the affected units when positioning them. The technology supports water control, but the ships still need productive waters and protection from enemy naval attacks.

Research condition

Inca; Exploration Age; researched at a Dock; costs 500 Food, 500 Wood and 500 Coin; 10-second research time; delivers one Fishing Boat and one Chincha Raft every five minutes up to 30 minutes; Chincha Raft build limit +4; affected units gain +4 line of sight and range.

Research decision

Choose Totora Reeds when the Inca plan includes sustained naval play and enough game time remains for multiple deliveries. It is a major three-resource investment, so compare the expected ships and stat improvements with an immediate land army or economy option. A late research receives fewer periodic deliveries than an early one.

Card discounts and update history

Two Home City Cards can reduce the investment: the Inca Old Ways card lowers the cost to 250 Food, 250 Wood and 250 Coin, while the shared TEAM Great Lakes card cuts it by 50% to 125 of each resource. Check the card and current tooltip before researching, since these discounts substantially change the timing of a 1,500-resource upgrade. Totora Reeds originally delivered a Fishing Boat and Chincha Raft every four minutes; update 9476 changed the interval to five minutes. Definitive Edition update 13.12327 added four line of sight and range and a build-limit increase for Chincha Rafts; update 13.58326 set the current +4 values and reduced the cost from 600 to 500 of each resource. In the current profile, an early research can produce up to six pairs by the 30-minute cap. Because the Chincha Raft becomes available in the Exploration Age, this also gives Inca an unusually early warship option; it is a specialized exception, not a reason to skip scouting or protection.
