Role, availability & values

The unit has 250 hit points and moves at 4.0 speed. Its eligible structure list depends on the civilization and scenario. It must reach a legal site and complete the selected building; the wagon itself does not grant the building’s effects while travelling.

Matchup & timing

Choose the structure that answers the immediate need: population, a Trade Route or settlement, livestock economy, or water access. Scout the destination and protect the builder across exposed ground. Avoid placing a Trading Post or Port beyond the force’s ability to defend it.

Choose the structure before dispatch

The African wagon has 250 hit points and 4.0 speed and can build a Hut, Trading Post, Livestock Market, or Port for free. Select the structure according to the map need: housing, Trade Route access, livestock, or naval infrastructure. The eligible choices depend on civilization and scenario. Scout the destination and protect the wagon; none of the selected building’s benefits apply until construction is complete.

Four free-building choices

The African Trade Builder can construct a Hut, Trading Post, Livestock Market or Port for free. Those choices answer different map needs: population, Trade Route or settlement access, livestock support, and naval production or fishing access. The eligible choices depend on civilization and scenario. The wagon has 250 hit points, moves at 4.0 speed and has 12 Line of Sight; it must complete construction before the selected building provides any benefit.

Select the destination before sending the wagon

Identify which structure the match actually needs and scout a legal location before moving the Trade Builder. A forward Trading Post or Port can improve access but is exposed if the army cannot defend it; a Hut or Livestock Market may support a safer economy. The wagon is a one-time construction asset, not a gathering unit, so losing it before completion removes the free-building opportunity. Escort it through hostile routes and keep units near the finished site when necessary.
