Units

Whitecoat

Whitecoat is an infantry unit associated with the Royalists choice in The Baltic Powers for Definitive Edition. It has a long-range attack and is a compact one-population line unit rather than a high-population mercenary. Its recorded profile also includes a separate hand attack and building damage, while its low health makes positioning important. Royalists access defines the roster context; it should not be treated as a standard unit available to every civilization.

Role, availability & values

Keep Whitecoats behind a frontline where their range lets them attack without taking the first contact. Their distance can support trades against exposed infantry, but cavalry and melee units can close the gap, so use screening units and withdraw before the line is surrounded. Check the Royalists choice and the current version’s unit profile when planning production.

Training & availability

The Baltic Powers; Definitive Edition; associated with the Royalists choice; one population; long-range ranged attack; also has hand and siege attacks; low health.

Matchup & timing

Use Whitecoats when the Royalists roster offers them and a low-population ranged line fits the army. Their range is useful in a protected formation, but their low health punishes careless positioning. Avoid building a strategy around them if the Royalists transition or access condition is not available in the match.

Scenario-only access through Royalists

Whitecoats are available only on the War of the Three Kingdoms historical map. A captured Royalists building trains them from the Commerce Age, but that scenario structure does not imply a general multiplayer unit or a standard Royalists revolution. The map’s ownership objectives and age progression control access; consult the scenario roster rather than searching for a Barracks technology in ordinary skirmish.

Automatic age scaling rewards preserving the line

The scenario profile starts Whitecoats with 10% extra hit points and damage. Each Age transition automatically sets the next bonus stage: +20% at Fortress, +30% at Industrial and +50% at Imperial. These are age-stage profiles, not separate technologies to research or bonuses to add cumulatively on top of every previous tier. Keeping the one-population unit alive allows it to benefit as the match progresses.

Use the ranged and hand attacks for different targets

The ranged attack deals 21 damage at up to 13 range and has a 1.5× multiplier against Light Ranged Cavalry. If Cavalry or Shock Troops reach the formation, the hand attack’s 4.5× and 3.75× multipliers make contact costly for them. The 20-damage siege attack can help against buildings, but the unit’s main value is its ranged line. Keep it screened and avoid letting a faster force surround the formation.
