Use in play
Build an economy that can supply Silver and conventional resources together. Use its specialist troops in combined armies rather than assuming the Byzantine mercenary approach applies unchanged.
Byzantine lineage and Silver
Macedonian Dynasty is a Byzantine variant from Dynasties of the East with a Silver-focused economy and its own military direction. It should be treated as a separate roster: Byzantine Cistern, Olive Oil and mercenary assumptions do not automatically describe Macedonian systems.
Varangian forces
Varangian Guard and related options give the civilization a strong infantry identity. A Silver economy must still fund the supporting unit mix and infrastructure. Use infantry to hold space while ranged or siege units address enemies that can kite or punish a slow advance.
