Special Items

Special Items are free cosmetics handed out for simple actions outside the game — following, joining the Discord, or supporting partner games — rather than for chest luck.

How it works

The best-known example is the Follower Hat: follow Bongo Cat on the Steam store page, then collect the hat inside the game. The developers have also released special items for joining the official Discord. Partner promotions work the same way with other games: wishlist and follow the partner's store page during the event window and themed rewards — the game names each one while the promotion is active — land in your collection. The catch is that promo items are usually not tradable on the Steam Community Market, so they can only ever be earned.

Player tips

Watch the game's Steam announcements for active promotions — they rotate with events and collaborations, and expired ones do not come back. Because promo items never hit the Market, they are the rarest-looking flexes in a lobby despite costing nothing.
