Bongo Cat is deliberately lightweight — the official requirements ask for almost nothing by modern standards, and the game is designed to idle in the background of whatever you are actually doing.
How it works
The minimum spec calls for a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 machine with an Intel i5 5200 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 1 GB of RAM, any graphics hardware, 100 MB of free storage, and a broadband connection. Recommended bumps that to an Intel i5 10500 or AMD Ryzen 7 with 2 GB of RAM. A broadband connection matters because chests, item drops, and the Steam inventory sync all run online — the game requires Steam to be running.
Player tips
If you are on a very weak machine, disable the Bobbing idle animation in Settings: the game then only renders on demand, which the developers note can drastically reduce GPU usage. An experimental Mac build has also been mentioned in update notes, but Windows 10/11 remains the officially supported platform.
