Trading & Steam Community Market
Gameplay ยท Bongo Cat
Trading in Bongo Cat runs through the Steam Community Market. Most items you unbox are Steam inventory items, so spare hats and skins can be listed and sold for Steam Wallet funds.
How it works
Chests drop tradable cosmetics that live in your Steam inventory, and the in-game menus link straight out to the Market and your inventory categories. That is the extent of trading today: direct player-to-player trades were removed by the developer in a 2025 update after bot accounts were caught farming thousands of items and funneling them to a single account for bulk sales. The Market itself was deliberately left untouched, and the developer has said direct trading could return if the bot problem is brought under control. Note that promotional reward items are usually not marketable at all.
Player tips
Check current Market prices before feeding rare duplicates into the Item Exchange โ a Rare or Epic dupe might be worth more in wallet funds than as one step up the upgrade ladder. Promo and event items staying unmarketable also means they are the one category that can only be earned, never bought.
| Marketplace | Most items can be listed on the Steam Community Market |
|---|---|
| User-to-User Trading | Disabled by the developer after bot accounts farmed items in bulk |
| Promo Items | Usually not marketable |
