Heavy Crossbow

The Heavy Crossbow is the sledgehammer of the crossbow family in Minecraft Dungeons II: a slow but deadly menace that is a real threat from a distance. It holds an S tier rating for calculated DPS — top marks for a standard weapon.

Stats and mechanics

Where the standard Crossbow and the Rapid Crossbow emphasize volume, the Heavy Crossbow emphasizes weight — each bolt hits harder, with a slower cycle between shots. Its Tank + Fighter archetype and heavy weight suit heroes who plant their feet and punish anything downrange. Crossbow projectiles already fly faster than arrows, and the heavy frame keeps that velocity while adding punch. Bolts are unlimited and self-regenerating in Dungeons II, so the slower pace never creates ammo pressure. Enchantments that boost per-shot damage or add strong on-hit effects get the most value here, since every bolt carries more of the effect's weight.

How to get it

The Heavy Crossbow drops in Howling Woods, The Deep Dark and Humbler Huskland, or as a quest reward. Watch for high-power copies in those regions — and remember that any Heavy Crossbow drop can roll as its unique variant, The Close Ranger.

Builds and playstyles

The Heavy Crossbow suits deliberate marksmen who pick targets and punish them, and it pairs well with enchanting builds that reward big single hits. If raw damage is the goal, compare it with the Powerbow on the bow side or the unique Paragon for a flat ranged boost. Crowd fighters may prefer the Scatter Crossbow, while speed demons should look at the Rapid Crossbow.
