Overview
Sumanguru’s forces control the river routes and keep pressure on Sundjata’s small base. Break the Sosso blockade, enlist Mema and Fakoli through rescue and negotiation, and gather enough strength to defeat the king’s army.
Player approach
Blood on the River Bank begins with a small Malian base but can gain long-term resources from its trading post. Use a safe opening to change Mema’s stance and protect the wood imports that support the late game.
Step-by-step plan
Move the starting Scout Cavalry north around the Castle and Tower fire toward the shallows and the fort holding the Mema princess, triggering Mema’s alliance for the rest of the mission. Rescue the princess when the route is safe, then establish the economy and preserve the Malian trading post. Use the periodic imported wood to reduce the number of Villagers tied to lumber later, freeing population for the army.
Risks and adjustments
Do not scout broadly before the key Mema trigger if the enemy defenses can trap the Scout. The trading post is worth protecting even when local wood appears plentiful, and a rushed rescue without the main force can lose the units needed for the later objectives.
