CAMPAIGN · THE CONQUERORS
La Noche Triste
Guide a small force through hostile territory while Cortés races to complete a Wonder. Rescue reinforcements where practical, but prioritize reaching and destroying the Wonder.

Overview
Guide a small force through hostile territory while Cortés races to complete a Wonder. Rescue reinforcements where practical, but prioritize reaching and destroying the Wonder.
Player approach
La Noche Triste puts Cortéz’s Wonder on a timer while the player begins with a small force and must also preserve its starting military. Collect nearby Gaia units and prisoners, then avoid the heavily defended eastern causeway.
Step-by-step plan
Move south first to gather the nearby soldiers and Houses, then turn north to add the next group and the available Monk on Standard. Complete the prisoner objective when the escort force is ready, and approach Tenochtitlan from the western side rather than the eastern causeway that leads into a Castle and siege defenses. Keep the starting force alive, use the recruited army to clear one route, and focus the Wonder before the 300-year timer expires.
Risks and adjustments
The Wonder timer and the loss condition for the starting army create different risks. Do not trade the initial units for optional ground, and avoid the eastern approach unless the force can handle the Castle, Scorpions, and Arbalesters.
